samba/swat access denied

hi all,

didnt know exactly where to put this so i put it here

urm i have a problem, recently we found that we were having trouble allowing users access to shares, it was down to name resolutions (so im told) anywho we upgraded samba to 3.0.20a and now SWAT wont work, we have always logged in using root and root password but now it wont let me in any ideas what could be causing it to mess up?

also another problem, our original setup allowed us to connect to the server using "computer manager" in administrator tools on a windows PC, we can connect but we cant change the permissions on ANY of the directories even though I am in the administrators group and the domain administrator cant set permissions either, again any ideas?

thanks in advance

i don't think i have the answer to your "computer manager" problem but i'd like to hear if anyone esle does. have you try to reset your root and samba root password? i'm not sure what one swat uses.

[root@fedora]#smbpasswd root
[root@fedora]#passwd root

also you might want to add a smb root password again

[root@fedora]#smbpasswd -a root

can you access swat from the localhost? that would mean you just need to edit your swat configuration file.

ok there was no root user added for samba so i used -a root to add it in and then -e to enable it (just to make sure) but swat still doesnt work from my PC, not even connecting from the server itself will let root in (connecting from localhost) i also changed the root password still no effect.

thanks again
