Samba speed
I have set up a number of linux hosts on a LAN, these hosts are loaded with Samba to interact with my Windows machine.
When the Linux hosts are connected to the LAN it takes a long, long time for them to appear in the network neighbourhood of the Windows machine...I am not using DHCP for IP addressing, they (IP's) are hard set by me. My question.... any tips on speeding up the process of the Linux machines appearing in the 'hood?????:newbie: |
Sounds like a browser issue. Try setting a linux box to become he master browser. Most people find that samba handles it better than windoze.

I remember see some benchmarks that showed that samba performes significantly better than MS.
