Samba shares not showing up
hello,
i'm trying to setup a share between my laptop running mandrake 9.1 and desktop running windows 98. I followed the instructions outlined in the O'reilly online book "samba" but i'm not able to see any shares either way. when I issue the command in the book
>smbclient -L
added interface ip=172.16.1.1 bcast=172.16.1.255 nmask=255.255.255.0

I dont get anything like the book says I should see past the Password line. I have setup a Test directory share on my Linux box yet it doesnt show up in the sharename list.nothing does. In Konquerur i see the the share icon next to the listing for Test. I have the smb.conf file setup per the book w/encrypted password=yes. I see the [Test] section too. the same is true the other way w/win98 box not seeing Linux box. And that I know is setup properly because I have it sharing w/other Windows boxes. The two boxes are connected via linksys wireless ethernet switch.Any suggestions welcome..

yes I have rebooted since and still get the same readout on smbclient -L. I see the message SMB service started ok on bootup but no shares are showing. Am I doing something wrong. I mean all u have to do is right click on a directory and select the share option .correct?
