samba share to lettered drive
mapping a samba share to a letter drive in windows.....this is possible right? If i have on my Linux box /home/robert, isnt it possible to get /home/robert to map to like Z:/ on a windows box?

ok this was terribly easy:
Once you have logged on to Windows you should proceed as follows: Right click on the "Network Neighbourhood" or "My Network places" icon From the pop-up menu choose "Map Network Drive" In the dialog box choose a drive letter (for example G:) Then type in the Network path or Folder. This will be something like: \\castor\mmm45 -- the home directory of a user called "mmm45" or \\softhost\sitesoft -- the location where some site licensed software can be obtained or \\click\ourfolder -- a shared folder on a server called "click" If you are using Windows2000 and have not logged onto Windows with your Unix password, click the "different user name" link, and in the next dialog-box type in your Unix username and password, and then click "OK" Click "Finish" or "OK" My dad now has a Z: drive on his windows machine, an extra 1gig + |
The Opposite
I am trying to do the exact opposite of this. I need to map a linux home directory to a share on a Windows 2000 server.
