Samba share access problem from xp

I have gotten to the point where XP can see Linux, and can log in under user name Administrator.

However, once I am logged in and try to access the share (/mnt/win_c/windows) it says that the "network name cannot be found."

I checked the appropriate log file, log.winxp, and these are the relevent lines:

[2002/09/09 12:38:45, 0] smbd/service.c:make_connection(213)
winxp (192.168.1.3) couldn't find service administrator
[2002/09/09 12:38:45, 0] smbd/service.c:make_connection(213)
winxp (192.168.1.3) couldn't find service administrator

I am just looking to find out what that means so I can fix it. Thanks.

Hmm I had exactly a similar problem ... I solved that. Have the solution on a server I unfortunately can't access till next week (it's behind a firewall where I don't have access from this location to). And on my Windows box here the problem didn't reproduce, sorry

Well, it looks like i fixed it, although, once again, I don't know why lol.

I made up a test share for /tmp and that worked. Whatever I changed did it. I think I had the user name in the wrong box--guest account instead of user name.

Looks like I finally have it up and running again. Thanks.
