Dear all,

I am having redhat 9 linux system.Earlier it was having samba-2.x.x version,was running properly.I am developing an x86 processor based embedded system.What i did:

1> I have configured samba-3.0.29a for my embedded system.
2> after running "smbd -V",it is showing me 3.0.29a.
3> i have executed "smbd -D" and "nmbd -D" commands.
3> But i am running "service samba restart" command,it is showing me smb
and nmb services failed.

I have gone through this link:

What can be the reasons?
Please help me out.

start your samba by:
service smb start
check its status by:
service smb status
then cat the log file:
cat /var/log/samba.log (or whatever you have named your log file)

Attach your log file here, then we can see where you are having problems.
