Samba: mounted drive is changed to read-only (???)
Hi All,
My setup is as follows
/dev/hdb1 /mnt/data defaults
/mnt/data /home/juser/data defaults,bind
Within Linux, this works fine. Both juser and root can create, modify and save files in /home/juser and /home/juser/data. However, when I connect to /home/juser/data via SAMBA, the system immediately changes the /mnt/data (/home/juser/data) filesystem to read-only. The SAMBA user (juser) can create or modify documents in /home/juser but not /home/juser/data. Also, after juser has connected to the via SAMBA, root and juser cannot modify documents in /mnt/data or /home/juser/data within linux.
How do I configure SAMBA to leave my mounted FS's in rw mode?
[homes]
...
read only = No
edit: The error I receive when touching a file in Linux (root) in /home/juser/data is "touch: cannot touch 'bob': Read-only file system". Root, can touch 'bob' in /home/juser.
edit #2: After reviewing the system log, I notice some I/O errors (eek) and lots of kernel EXT3-fs errors... uhm... I'm worried about that drive now...
