Currently trying to install Samba 2.0.5a on my Mandrake 7.2 box. Configuration went fine, however when I get to compile stage and use make command, the process gives me the following warning message:

WARNING: No automated netmask determination - use an interfaces line

I know my netmask is correct because my internal network is functioning perfectly. I am simply using the /etc/hosts file on both Linux boxes with the ifconfig utility. I am using the Samba version supplied out of the O'Reilly book itself (using Samba).

This has me stumped. Have looked all over the Internet and cannot find anything pertaining to this problem.

Thanks in advance for any help........

Well, I got it to work by simply rebooting the machine after running the ./configure script and then running the make command. Don't know why it worked, but it did.
