samba guest account questions
 

According to the samba documentation, the default guest account is nobody, or you can change it. It that the guest login must exist in the /etc/passwd file, but it doesn't say it has to exist in the sama password backend. Leaving the guest login default (nobody), not adding it to my samba password backend (tdbsam in this case), and having various shares set for guest access doesn't seem to work. Windows pops up a login box, and using the account nobosy, it cannot authenticate unless the user is in the samba password backed database
