Samba force user, group doesn't return expected results

I have samba version 3.0.14a running on a linux server, and have a share, called "web" that is set to run as user "root" and group "webadmins" ("force user" and "force group" in smb.conf). The reason I want this, is that all files created via samba need to be owned by the aforementioned user/group.

I connect to this share in Windows (XP Professional) and Linux (OpenSUSE 10.0) alike. In linux (workstation), I mount the share (on the linux server) as a "CIFS" share. When I create folders or files, they are owned by user "root" and group "users" instead of user "root" and group "webadmins".

I do have a group "webadmins" on my workstation that matches uid. Also, the linux workstation is NOT authenticating (for general logins) via NIS, samba, LDAP (pam), etc. I have a standalone workstation connecting to a standalone server.

So is there a way to fix this? Suggestions?

Allright, I feel very stupid right now. I have discovered that samba is properly configured AND is running correctly. The reason I was getting the wrong results was because this whole time I was accessing the folder via a different share (a "parent" folder to the web folder). I changed my workstation's fstab to make the modifications permanent, and all is well.
