SAMBA downloaded can not find make instructions

It has taken some time but I now have internet access up and going, and can ping my XP from my Linux box. Next step is to get SAMBA running. Have downloaded samba 2.2.8a, gunzipped it into /etc/temp and un tarred but can't find the file on how to install. Running RH 7.2. HELP!!!!

Just follow the normal routine.

configure
make
make install
