Samba and path/file name max size?

Hello. I am rather new at linux/samba and I need someones help.

Is there a built-in maximum of path length in Samba? When testing on 2.2.5 as well as 3.0 rc4 the file gets cropped when the filename + path is greater than 255 characters... Unfortunately Samba crops the filename from the suffix and forward thus removing the file type...

There must surely be a way to increase whatever static variable that is configuring this, or is there a fix for this out there?

The computer runs on Redhat 8 and currently Samba 3.0.0.rc4.

Any help is most wanted as it's driving my mildly insane...

Are you browsing the directories from the x-win utility that comes with Redhat (sorry, can't remember it's name... "network servers" or something???). That doesn't seem to like longer the filenames, especially if they involve spaces...
