samba and 2000 server
 

Hi I am new to relatively new to linux and have a redhat 8.0 machine i need to attach to a 2000 server. Can someone tell me how to do this? Does the Redhat machine get authenticated by the 2000 server. I know about Samba and tried it. I cannot get it to work. Do i have to delete the # or ; symbols to get them recognized by the 2000 server. After i edit the smb.conf on the redhat machine does anyone know what else needs to be done on the server . Thanks

have you checked help filesa on your 2000 machine? I can't remember now but you have to install some file service for Unix, and probably some additional protocol on the server. :study:
