Samba
I'm trying to install Samba to share files and print services. I installed samba rpm about 2 wks ago, today I trid to install swat. It gave me an error . I then uninstalled the package, when I rebooted my machine and tried to reinstall the package I got an error.
samb -common is needed to install samba server and client. What does this mean? How do I install samba-common. |
i believe the package name is samba-common. Try searching on http://www.rpmfind.net, or if have apt-get installed just run apt-get install samba :)
If you're using Red-Hat you might try up2date -i samba-common . Mike |
Actually, I just found out what it is. When I tried to install the package I got an error Samba-common already installed version 2.2.5. Where is it? How do I get Swat to recognize it.

Can't answer your question about swat though :( Never used it. Mike |
It's saying that no packages are installed for samba.

I tried to reinstall windows file server package. it is saying unlocatable samba-common 2.2.5. why is that ? How can I find that file.

If your using a Red-Hat distribution I would try running up2date -i samba. This should pull all dependencies, including commons. I'm not familiar with that particular error message, sorry :( Mike |
