Samba 3, Winbind (getent) not returning Domain USers

Hi all,

first time of posting, and hoping someone has come across this quirk before.

I have mandrake 10, and samba3
The linux box is configured as a win2k AD domain member

wbinfo -g, -u, it all work fine
getent passwd works fine

getent group returns all the groups fine except for "Domain Users" - no members of this group are shown. All the win2k users have Domain User as their primary account

If i specify individual user names on samba shares they wrok fine, but not if i only specifiy groups - even if it is not the Domain Users group. for example if i specify the group "Delphiq Users", one of our own internal groups no joy.

I'm guess ing the problem is due to the Domain Users not resolving, and that causing problems with the other groups ....

in the share is specify

valid users = &"Delphiq Users"

... or am i specifying the group wrong?

Any help greatfulyl appreciated

.. further to the above it gets stranger...

i can telnet into the linux box as two different windows users, and with files/folder set with the the windows group "Domain Users" each windows user can access those files folders. However if i use windows explorer i either get a username/password prompt (which doesn't allow me to connect), or i get no prompt, and the message access denied "group name not found" on my windows XP Pro pc (same on win2k as well) ...
