Samba
I am very much a newbie, desperatly trying to learn.
My task for today was to download and install and configure samba.
I downloaded samba, extracted it, and attempted to configure it.
In the source directory, I typed
./configure
It responded:
checking for gcc......no
checking for cc.......no
checking for cc........no
checking for cl.........no
configure: error: no acceptable C compiler found in $path
I understand the meaning of the error, but no clue in how to go about fixing the error.....
Help?

You either don't have gcc installed or its not in your path.. but from the looks of your error, you most likely don't have it installed at all. Either install it or if your using a distro that is RPM based, find the rpm to install and so on.. since you haven't mentioned what distro your installing this on.

Red hat. I didn't see an RPM for it on the samba site, but I will go check again. Thanks
