If you reboot, everything in /proc should disappear, and be replaced with fresh files when you start it back up.

At least that is how I understand it, I have never paid that much attention to it to be honest. I wasn't aware anything in it could get as large as 1 GB.

/proc is a virtual filesystem, you can find out the status of your devices from it. For example, doing this command:
cat /proc/scsi/scsi
would list the SCSI devices that youre using. /proc basically follows the *nix principle that everything is a file. Since /proc is a virtual filesystem, it doesnt actually use any harddrive space, and deleting from it does no good, as the files pop up again after reboot. /proc/kcrash is probably a file that contains the warning/error messages that your kernel might have produced (KernelCRASH=kcrash). I suggest you reboot your comp, itll do it some good.

i think you can clear the file safely tho, if it is only error messages then it shouldn't be in use right?
