Russian in Kopete?

I'm running Mandrake 10 with Russian localization. When I want to use Kopete to send instant messages in Russian, I can just type and send. No problem. But whenever I receive a message, the default encoding displays it in the wrong Russian character encoding. I have to change it to Win-1251 each time.

This becomes a problem when I get random chat requests from people. The first message is always garbage - then I must go into the properties and change the encoding to Win-1251.

Is there a configuration file somewhere that lets me assume that Win-1251 will be used? Will this affect the English messages that I also get?

Any help is appreciated,

Baltika
