Running Windows games in Linux
If under a geames system requirements it lists that you must have xp or windows, does that mean that it is not able to be ran on Linux? or is there a package that i can get to take care of that.

You can try Wine. It may or may not support the game.

If it's these one:
http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManage...sion&iId=13139
Then you will see that the ratings are not too good, varying from bronze to garbage (which means that it might run with lots of problems if at all).
On other order of things: to install wine use the package manager of your distribution. That's how you usually install things on linux. You shouldn't need to download the programs from their home page unless it's a rare case. Wine is very well known and it's available on virtually every distro under the sun.

What have you tried so far? Any error messages? Which Linux distro are you using?
I'm afraid "it doesn't work" is rarely enough information for us to give any useful help.

Have you installed WINE or just downloaded? Also, did you try installing using the package manager?
Have you run "winecfg"?
Once WINE is installed, you would run an .exe file by simply entering "wine filename.exe".

This thread is almost a duplicate of your previous one. Please don't start new threads when you are already getting answers in another. I'll ask that these be merged.
Another hint: Sometimes it it easier to get things running using Crossover (the commercial(paid) version of WINE).

wine whammy
Wine has its limitations as a cross-platform event and trying to use it as an online assistant then it may cause extra difficulties. As I understand it wine opperates on packages you have already downloaded to your home directory. Winecfg is a good way to see if your attempt to see if wine has succeessfuly been installed, not to mention it is a window for modification.

Wine runs Windows apps (.exe files) regardless of where they are located. (As long as they are in $PATH, or the full path is given.) I'm not sure what you mean by "operates on packages".

I already gave you a link on the other thread that you probably didn't bother to read. There it clearly states that the installer will not work.
http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManage...sion&iId=13139
However you might have some success if you manage to install directx9 using winetricks or something like that. It's not going to be a trivial walk in any case, and the game will run with problems. Please, read the info in that link. Opening a new thread will not make your problem go away.

Have you looked at the compatibility databases (for WINE at their website---or for CrossOver (at codeweavers, com))? The question is whether we can expect Warhammer to run on WINE or Crossover.
Regardless of which app you want to run, I suggest trying Crossover. they have a free trial period and they have a very friendly interface.
