I have heard of software that allows you to run Windows software on the Linux OS anyone know what it is called or where I can find it?

there is also VMWare which fully emulates a Windows version, similar to the Virtual PC on Macs. Also, if you are getting it for gaming, look for WineX (it costs money but is well worth it) or check http://www.transgaming.com
