running software in all user logins

hi installed firefox under root login to the /opt directory which belongs to root. it works all fine. but under my user login(not root) i am unable to run the program unless i use the run command to run it as a different user which is "root". where and how do i in the future install programs so that all users including the root can run it?
thankyou

hi there,

normally i would to that under
Code:

/usr/local/bin
it is easier controlling what was installed by hand and what was installed by package managers.

just my :twocents:
