Red face

I'm trying to install RH 7.1 and 6.1 on an embedded x86 platform, and everything seems to be fine until it hangs, last line displayed is:

running /sbin/loader

... nothing happens ... The system has obviously hanged, since the keyboard is not responding to num-lock or caps lock presses (no light changes).

I heard that linux is testing USB stuff at this point? is that true?

The system has no USB capability, there are no support for USB in the BIOS, except for an option to enable/disable USB legacy support. whether this is set or not, however, has no impact on the outcome of my installation attempts.

Any clues???

PS: the system consists of:
x86 - cyrix processor
caviar 33100 HD
Samsung SC-140 CD
64 mb ram

I ran into this problem with the DR-A24X Pioneer CD-ROM. I had is set as the secondary slave. I encountered the HDD: lost interrupt during installation. So I rebooted and put boot: linux hdd=cdrom hdd=noprobe

It installed after that
