Running Mailscanner with sendmail, spamassassin and ClamAV

I have set up a email filter running sendmail, spamassassin, clamav and MailScanner.

Now, to make sure that MailScanner uses spamassassin, do i have to start start spamassassin with

Code:
/etc/init.d/spamassassin start
manually before starting MailScanner, or will MailScanner itself take care of using spamassassin itself?

Thanks.
