running Kile

I try to run my first text files under Kile and I get this message:

" [ViewDVI] The file /home/.../.../.../intro.tex.dvi does not exist; did you compile the source file? " everytime I use the "ViewDvi" option

before that, when I want to compile, this would appear:

"The document /home/.../.../.../intro.tex.dvi is not a LaTeX root document; continue anyway?"

I don't understand.

I think u might not have compiled the file. U can either use the latex icon on the panel.
or u can use the konsole and latex command.
ie.
Quote:

latex filename.tex
and if output is produced use either the viewdvi icon or use
Quote:

xdvi filename.dvi
Hopes it will work.
