Running gddrescue 1.17 then updating before second run

I'm trying to recover data from a failing drive. I'm about 75% though one pass with ddrescue when I notice that I'm using an outdated version. I wouldn't care too much, but it looks like there's some significant changes between 1.17 and current release. I'm wondering if I can finish this pass, update, then run again using the same logfile/mapfile without causing any failures or rescans of recovered blocks?

Thanks

Good question. Sometimes you just got a go for it and see what happens. But if that version you are using is working. I'd take into consideration if you did have to start all over from the start, what more would you save, or regain back that is "lost" by doing so?

if it is worth it then give it a try keeping in mind you might have to start all over again.

if they have not changed how they read their data file to keep track of where you left off in anyway it theoretically should work.

i strongly advise against it.
finish what you're doing, then do some research about what has changed between updates. probably it will have zero effect on how many files are recovered.
