Running DVDs in Ubuntu Studio Players, problem and question.

Good day Linux users, I have lots of media players in Ubuntu Studio, but cannot play some DVDs there, they will not run full stop. The files are for such as Region 1.

How can I get any media player to use DVDs from Region 1 and other regions and file types?

I think I use Ubuntu Studio 12.10. Precise.
I have Movie Player.
Gnome Mplayer
XBMC Media Centre

Hi, some dvd's won't work in linux because of copy protection.

dvdcss for Ubuntu 12.10...search @ pkgs.org shows these names...
Code:
http://pkgs.org/search/?keyword=dvdcss&search_on=name&distro=121
If you have not got libdvdcss, install it and test.

bren@bren-Inspiron-410:~$ sudo apt-get libdvdcss
[sudo] password for bren:
E: Invalid operation libdvdcss
bren@bren-Inspiron-410:~$ sudo apt-get install libdvdcss
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
Package libdvdcss is not available, but is referred to by another package.
This may mean that the package is missing, has been obsoleted, or
is only available from another source

E: Package 'libdvdcss' has no installation candidate
bren@bren-Inspiron-410:~$

Out of luck, but I have played the Passion of the Christ on Linux before, just using it as a player, not for pirate videos... why the obstacle?

OK, I can get things going in Kaffeine, although, one DVD has options that when I bring the cursor over them, they do not not activate, so it stops there.

Thanks.
