Running a program at start??


hey guys i was wondering is there a way i can run a program at start Red hat linux 8 ??? i mean we can do it easy in windoze, but can figure it out in linux jet......any suggestion????

It depends. I'm using KDE 3 and all I do is make an app link inside the Autostart folder. The folder is located at:

~/.kde/Autostart

I used Konqueror to create the app link inside the folder.

I believe there's something similar for GNOME. For other window managers, it'll probably be handled by more obscure text files that are parsed by X at startup.

uhhmm i´m kinda newbie here and i´m using gnome on red hat 8 i was checking the .gnome folder and there isn´t a autostart folder in there .... helpp???

In Gnome: Start, Extras, Preferences, Sessions. Click on add and you can have it start the program at startup.
