Run x11vnc as root?

Hi all. Is it possible to run x11vnc as root? It just says it can't open display with me.
If not, I need to run it on startup in some way so I can log in to my user remotely with a VNC viewer. (Because that's what I'm actually wanna do, but I think it would work if I could run x11vnc as root.)

I'm running Debian/GNU Linux.

Yes, because root can do anything he/she wants to do on your box, but it's not a very good idea if you're concerned about security.
A cracker can easily capture your computer and well... have root access to your box.

But I just get a XOpenDisplay failed (null) error message.
I read the FAQ on x11vnc's website and did the x11vnc -display :0 but it stilled failed.
(Except that it said XOpenDisplay failed (:0) now)

Any luck with it? I'm having the same issue on a Solaris box. Thanks.
