"Run Program" application recommendations

I prefer to use lightweight window managers that don't come with their own counterpart to Windows' Window-R "run program" dialog box. Yes, I know that the desktop environments give you one when you press ALT-F2, but I need one for when I'm running OpenBox and Tint2.

I've used gmrun forever. Today, I looked at the Sourceforge page and noticed that it actually wasn't updated since 2003. Which is kinda amazing, considering how perfect it is. But I'm interested in something newer.

I used dmenu back when was experimenting with Xmonad (maybe two years back). It was great. Fast to use, non-intrusive, etc. I've just read blog entries saying that it works well with OpenBox, so I might see if I can go back to it.

I've heard of others (like kupfer), but I haven't tried them yet.

What do you recommend?

I should mention that the "run program" dialog box (where you enter a program name, the program launches and the dialog itself closes) is actually my primary way of launching apps.

The first one I ever tried was TkRunIt, but I'm obviously not using that today.

dmenu works with everything -- I use it in GNOME & KDE (Plasma 5) in preference to their built-in launchers.
