Introduction to Linux - A Hands on Guide
This guide was created as an overview of the Linux Operating System, geared toward new users as an exploration tour and getting started guide, with exercises at the end of each chapter.
For more advanced trainees it can be a desktop reference, and a collection of the base knowledge needed to proceed with system and network administration. This book contains many real life examples derived from the author's experience as a Linux system and network administrator, trainer and consultant. They hope these examples will help you to get a better understanding of the Linux system and that you feel encouraged to try out things on your own.

I've been trying on and off for about 2 months to get the SCGI functionality of rtorrent working, so I can use wtorrent when I'm not home (I already use rtorrent over ssh, but I'd prefer a web interface because I'm picky).
Anyway, I'm using Gentoo 2007.1, with the following relevant software versions:
# This is an example resource file for rTorrent. Copy to
# ~/.rtorrent.rc and enable/modify the options as needed. Remember to
# uncomment the options you wish to enable.
# Maximum and minimum number of peers to connect to per torrent.
#min_peers = 40
#max_peers = 100
# Same as above but for seeding completed torrents (-1 = same as downloading)
#min_peers_seed = 10
#max_peers_seed = 50
# Maximum number of simultanious uploads per torrent.
max_uploads = 5
# Global upload and download rate in KiB. "0" for unlimited.
#download_rate = 0
upload_rate = 45
# Default directory to save the downloaded torrents.
directory = ~/
# Default session directory. Make sure you don't run multiple instance
# of rtorrent using the same session directory. Perhaps using a
# relative path?
session = ~/.rtorrent
# Watch for new torrents
schedule = watch_directory_1,5,5,"load_start=~/.torrents/*.torrent,d.set_custom1=~/"
schedule = watch_directory_2,5,5,"load_start=~/.tvtorrents/*.torrent,d.set_custom1=~/tv"
schedule = watch_directory_3,5,5,"load_start=~/.musictorrents/*.torrent,d.set_custom1=~/music"
on_finished = move_complete,"execute=mv,$d.get_base_path=,$d.get_custom1= ;d.set_directory=$d.get_custom1="
# Close torrents when diskspace is low.
schedule = low_diskspace,5,60,close_low_diskspace=100M
# Port range to use for listening.
port_range = 46881-48889
# Start opening ports at a random position within the port range.
port_random = yes
# Set whetever the client should try to connect to UDP trackers.
use_udp_trackers = yes
encryption = allow_incoming,enable_retry,try_outgoing
dht = auto
dht_port = 46881
# Listen for XMLRPC connections
scgi_port = :5000
# set UTF8 encoding
encoding_list = UTF-8
When I issue the command "xmlrpc localhost:5000 system.listMethods" I get this in response:
Code:
Error: Curl failed to perform HTTP POST request. curl_easy_perform() says: Empty reply from server (-504)
Apache gives me a similar error, pointing firefox or nc at localhost:5000 gives me an empty document, and I have been unable to find anybody else who has had this problem. FWIW, it also happened with 0.8.0/0.12.0 and '.1 as well.
Any help would be MUCH appreciated, I've waited for some time to see this working!
As an update, I compiled libtorrent/rtorrent from source on debian just now and the exact same thing happened, on a different machine with a different version of libxmlrpc. So I don't know what I'm doing, but at least I'm consistent!
I am have got the same problem, i try lots of combination but still no luck could someone help please? I also try to connect via ntorrent-0.5 to rtorrent but i didnt work too.
Thanks
