rtorrent 0.7.9 crashes on Fedora 8

Hi guys.
Some time ago I compiled rtorrent 0.7.9 on my Fedora 8 since the latest stable version (that certain stupid trackers demanded me to upgrade to) didn't exist on F8 repositories. Anyway, compilation went nice and smooth - no problems on that. I've been using it ever since. However as of this morning, no matter what I do, every time I start rtorrent I get a very missleading message on the bottom of the window:

inscard_clnt.c:3349:SCardCheckDaemonAvailability() PCSC Not Running

It just came from nowhere - I haven't modified my system in any way. And what does this deamon have to do with rtorrent??? It's a card-reader deamon, right?

Anyway, the rtorrent, after displaying that message in the bottom of the screen seems to be functioning although some letters are missing in the torrent-names and stuff...after a while the message disappears and the display starts looking normal... After a while - it just crashes then...

What's the deal?

Any feedback is appreciated.

I used to use rtorrent on a old debian box, but now I use transmission
I is widely supported and can be operated via cmdline/gui or web - I suggest you try it out, ohh and I would go for version 1.4.0 if possible.

should find some rpm's here, not sure if the Fedora 9 rpm will work on Fedora 8
http://rpm.pbone.net/index.php3?stat...h=transmission

Sorry if this did not help.

well, thanks for the tip. i know, of course, about transmission but i prefer not to use it. so no, it doesn't solve my problem. fortunately, the weird occurrence that i described yesterday seem to have been one of those "one timers" that just disappear to not (hopefully) show up ever again. if it remains that way - then i won't be having sleepless nights wondering why it happened in the first place.
