rsyslog can't be downloaded for a reinstall

As the title states, I can't reinstall rsyslog. I have this strange issue with it, it logs everything to syslog.1, not syslog. Here is the output
Code:
~# apt-get install --reinstall rsyslog
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
Reinstallation of rsyslog is not possible, it cannot be downloaded.
0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 0 not upgraded.
I opened up synaptic manager and looked up rsyslog, when I highlight it, the first top 4 items are greyed out, Unmark, Mark for Installation, Mark for Reinstallation, Mark for Upgrade. Can't pick any one of these items. The installed version is 8.34.0-0adiscon2xenial1 (now) as is the latest version. In the forced version there is a second candidate 8.16.0-1ubuntu3 (xenial). Why the sudden change in naming of rsyslog, adiscon2xenial1 vs ubuntu3 ? Is this the version you guys have ?

Did you try 'apt-get update' first? Or, in synaptic, 'reload'?

Someone mentioned that I was using a version not from our official repository but some other repo I added along the way and I deleted it thus the *can't download*, so anyway I purged the 8.34.0-0adiscon2xenial1 and installed the official 8.16.ubuntu3 one and now everything is ok.
