To get information about the options of rsync have a look at its man-page:
Code:
man rsync
Code:
--delete delete extraneous files from dest dirs
-u, --update skip files that are newer on the receiver
        -r, --recursive recurse into directories
        -v, --verbose increase verbosity
-z, --compress compress file data during the transfer
Since you are not using the -p option permissions are not preserved, so your command is correct.
