RSS reader for X?
 

I just installed and deleted about 10 RSS readers. Many had wierd (and undocumented) dependencies, script errors, bizarre behavior, etc.

I'm running Thunderbird now but I don't like it.

Does anybody know of a good RSS reader for X (not gnome, and not KDE, just X, or even console...)

I would like it to

* allow me to easily add RSS and ATOM feeds
* have a visible but non-disruptive new-message indicator
* show the time since the last update and/or time to next update
* initially only display the headline or title but also able to
display the linked HTML in its own browser (I know this won't work
for a console-based reader)

bottomfeeder was the closest thing so far but it did a couple of really weird things I didn't like. It has its own built-in browser but it screws up HTML by centering all text. It makes things like code virtually unreadable. And it creates its own files in whatever directory you're in when you start x- so if you're in your own home directory when you start it and configure it, and you run it for a while, and then you stop and work console more for a bit, and then you start X without changing back to your home, bottomfeeder isn't smart enough to realize that he's not in home and he just builds a whole new set of files and directories (yeah, multiples) all over again.

It can't be that hard to find a good RSS reader! But it is.
