Unhappy rpmfind and RedHat 7.3

Hello, all. I'm having problems getting rpmfind to work on my newly installed redhat 7.3 platform. I'm trying to use the rpmfind v. 1-7-7 program that comes with the default distribution. I verified the version via the rpm -qa |grep rpmfind command.

Whenever I try to run the program, it downloaded the database & created the configuration file (although the config file says this is version 1.6) but I get the following error:

"rdfread /root/.rpmfinddir/fullIndex.rdf.gz: resource is not wellformed XML"

...and it bails on me. The fillIndex.rdf.gz file is there, but it doesn't uncompress with gzip as it says the file is corrupted.

Any thoughts?

TIA,
tjc

It looks the index of files is wrong. Try to remove the file. Start rpmfind (it should read the index again). If still in trouble, consider getting an older version(or source code) od rpmfind.

Solution Found!

Here's what I did to get things working:

- The default install with Redhat 7.3 didn't work, even after clearing and downloading the index file multiple times.
- I removed the rpmfind program with the rpm -e option.
- I then reinstalled the RPM from the rpmfind.net site (1.7-7) rather than using what was on the source CD's or from Redhat's site.

Success!

Thanks for your suggestion - it got me down the right path.
