RPMDrake problems
I currently have Mandrake Linux 8.1 running on my machine. I recieved a disk with a few games on it frome a friend. (Yes, these are Linux games.) My problem occurs when I am using RPMDrake and try to define new sources. I choose the /mnt/floppy/ directory. and press OK. But as soon as the percentage bar pops up it says 'an error occured when trying to add this source'. Any help will help.

OK, sometimes the best way to do things is the hard way:
Open up a command prompt (the thing that looks like a DOS box). Type ls /mnt/floppy. If it comes back with absolutely nothing, then type [b]mount /mnt/floppy[/i] and then try ls /mnt/floppy again. Once you have established that you can see the contents of the floppy disk, post here what exactly is on the disk. Note: rpmdrake is only really any good for installing/uninstalling programs that use the extension .rpm. If the files on the floppy are anything other than .rpm files, then a different approach is needed. |
