Is it possible to use a RPM or SOURCE RPM and specify different locations i.e. PREFIX for the software to install.
e.g. the default PHP RPM installs php at /usr/bin/php
Is it not possible to specify a PRFIX for the same ?
Now I want to do this because of several reasons !
If I compile my own PHP which is simple enough updates will be an issue. The RPM maintained by Redhat and CentOS already take care of these patches and its easy to use them. But I want to install my LAMP at another location and not the same location as in the RPM.
Is it not possible to use the SOURCE RPM and then have them relocated ?
I was checking the spec file and the do use some sort of variables. I am not an expert with RPM building so any guidance is appreciated.
