RPM install on RH9 fails
Hi All
I'm wondering if the list can help me with a problem with my RH9 install.
For some reason RPM installs no longer work. They did to start with, but now when I double click an RPM I get the message about calculating headers/dependencies etc, and then it just disappears.
Any ideas?
TIA
HB

Try rebuilding your database:
As Super User (su) type:
rm -f /var/lib/rpm/__*
then type:
rpm -vv --rebuilddb
It should scroll a bunch of text. If it doesn't work again, in a console, type rpm -Uvh <packagename>
If it gives any errors, post them here

run rpm from a terminal window. As root
rpm -ivh package.name
for fresh installs and
rpm -Uvh package.name
for upgrades. You should get some error messages. If you post them here, someone might be able to help.

RPM install fails
Hi
doing (as SU)
rm -f /var/lib/rpm/_*
gives a message 'invalid option'.
I tried rebuilding anyway, but it seems to hang
Thanks for your assistance so far
