Angry rpm install from src

I am trying to install the HSF driver for my Dell model but I keep getting the following error:

rpm -i dell-hsflinmodem-5.03.27-2.0.i386.rpm
error: Failed dependencies:
kernel-source is needed by dell-hsflinmodem-5.03.27-2.0

I have already downloaded the src.rpm and used the rpm --rebuild command to get it installed. I now have the built rpm, but I get the error above.

any ideas?

did you double check in /usr/src and see if your kernel source is in fact there?
