RPM downloads


When using rpm to download a package is there a specific location that the package is store (i.e. local directory)

iirc, depends on the exact distro. On the latest RHEL, I think it installs the SW, updates the rpmdb and deletes the pkg to save on diskspace.
You can use the yum downloadonly option if you want to txfr the rpms to another system manually.
Try /var dir or look at the yum conf files.

Typically installing an RPM involves extracting the binaries an placing them in their relevant locations (depends on the app), and libraries, etc. The package itself isn't installed as such, and may or may not be retained depending on how you are installing.

rpm will not install any dependencies that may be needed .Use "yum " instead

if you are using the rpm command with a web address in the line then it will put it in /tmp

Maybe

Just type locate <some package you installed>

If you don't have locate installed do find / -name <some package you installed>

Review the locations of the file partial names are ok. Other then that I am not sure on an RPM distro
