Hello,
I am trying to install LIcq on my redhat linux 8 machine
I got the RPM licq-1.2.7-rh8.0.i386.rpm
I run the following command
rpm -i licq-1.2.7-rh8.0.i386.rpm
and I get the following error
*******************************************************************************
[root@ministre icq]# rpm -i licq-1.2.7-rh8.0.i386.rpm
warning: licq-1.2.7-rh8.0.i386.rpm: V3 DSA signature: NOKEY, key ID 49e9e51a
error: Failed dependencies:
libc.so.6(GLIBC_2.3.2) is needed by licq-1.2.7-rh8.0
libpthread.so.0(GLIBC_2.3.2) is needed by licq-1.2.7-rh8.0
*******************************************************************************
However, I do have libc.so and libpthread.so
*******************************************************************************
[root@ministre lib]# find . -name "libc.so"
./libc.so
[root@ministre lib]# find . -name "libpthread.so"
./libpthread.so

"However, I do have libc.so and libpthread.so"
Yes, but you may need a later version. Use rpm to check what version numbers of the failed dependencies you have installed.

Try typing:
rpm -Uvh licq-1.2.7-rh8.0.i386.rpm
To see if it can be updated, instead of installed. Otherwise, simply remove the old version and install the new as jailbait suggested...
