RPM dependencies
 

Relative Newbie:
I'm running Slackware 9.1 stock kernel, brand FULL new error-less install, and I'm having serious problems with the RPM (though it seems like theres a simple answer). Whenever I try and install any rpms, I get this list of dependencies:

/bin/sh , /bin/sh , /bin/sh , /bin/sh , ld-linux.so.2 , libX11.so.6 , libXext.so.6 , libc.so.6 , libdl.so.2 , libm.so.6 , libpthread.so.0 , /bin/bash , libc.so.6(GLIBC_2.0) , libc.so.6(GLIBC_2.1) , libc.so.6(GLIBC_2.1.3) , libm.so.6(GLIBC_2.0) , libpthread.so.0(GLIBC_2.0)

i should think that /bin/sh would be there, (I checked, it is) and whenever I try to install any of the other libraries in that list, I get unsatisfied dependencies such as

basesystem , libgcc
and glibc-common

but when I try to install those I either reach dead ends or stuff i don't understand such as "basesystem"

I would think that these libraries and basic stuff would come with Slack, if so i would like to know what I have to do to let the RPM know where these files are.

Please help, I'm probably just missing something simple.

You'll be a lot better off installing packages from .tgz's or source, as Slack is not an rpm-based distro.

yea, and i have done so many times, but for instance, my gfx drivers are only available in rpms
