roll-back / restore old journal in ext3
 

I have Mandrake 9.1 set up on a PPC functioning primarily as a file server. It has an ext3 filesystem. Recently, from my Windows PC, I accidentally overwrote my entire /directory with a blank directory structure. I have backups for some items, but not all. I understand ext3 does not support undelete since the inodes are zeroed, but is there any way to retrieve the old "journal" (presuming I'm using the correct logic). I'm using grep to recover some text from various files, but some encrypted and binary data is obviously not recoverable that way.
