Roku like app

I'm looking for an app that works the software on a roku box. I'm running Mint 11.04, I tried going out of the Mint repo and using XBMC but it hangs the second time you shut it down. I had to install the version from Maverick, might have something to do with it. I've looked at Moovida but it doesn't seem to have a youtube section that you can set to pull subscriptions from an account..seems like the focus was just on digital content and the streaming side was an after thought. Is there anything out there that's centered more around streaming media?

Have you tried vlc? If that's not what you want, try to be more explicit about what exactly you're looking for. I don't know what kind of software is on a roku box. Can you describe it?

The software would basically integrate content from the web into a Home Theater Personal Computer (HTPC) type application. The content would be YouTube, Hulu, TED, and other websites with streaming videos. The app would need to be able to this based on user accounts with these services. One of the characteristics of an HTPC type application is the ease of control via remote so that means LIRC compatibility.

Here's the roku website: http://www.roku.com/

I thought it was a rather ground breaking thing with the community as it runs on Linux and has managed to legally play netflix videos. I should probably just buy one of those but..have a spare machine and thought that with all the packages available that I string something together that was close.

I ended up finding a work around for the issue I was having with XBMC. Confluence skin causes crashes for some reason.
