Ripping to Mp3

I am setting up a linux computer for a friend - it is Debian dist running GNOME. One of the things I am working on right now is gettin a music program set-up. I went with Amarok but Amarok cannot do CD ripping / ripping to MP3. So, the only program I could get to work to do this ripping to MP3 was KAudioCreator. However, when an AudioCD is inserted, Sound Juicer comes up automaticaly. Is there a way to get kAudioCreator to launch by default?

When I tried to uninstall Sound Juicer using Synaptic Package Manager, it said it need to uninstall GNOME-Graphical-Interface, and I didnt like the sound of that so I cancelled that. Is there a way to uninstall indidual programs that I do not require?

Also, if there is a better program / better integration with Amarok for CD ripping > mp3 it would be great to hear about it.

Thanks for your help!

Personally, I prefer Grip for ripping.

Personally, I like ripperX for ripping. I use it to rip tracks to .ogg, but you can also use it for .mp3.

Alright - but I am wondering where can I set the default program? When I insert an audio CD SoundJuicer automatically opens. Is there a way to customize which program opens - if so, how do I go about doing this?
Thanks for your help.
