Rinning Xine

Hi,
I've downloaded Xine and I can't put it to work... Well I'll make it short, how do I start it!!!! I've installed it from an RPM package: "rpm -ivh xine.rpm", it looks like it was installed OK, but I can't find it anywhere in my computer! is xine and xinetd the same? because I know xinetd works in my console, needs arguments though.

TIA!,Max.

I tried but says
bash: xine: command not found.

When I install the packages, it says:

warning: xine.rpm: V3 DSA signature: NOKEY, key ID e42d547b
warning: user dude does not exist - using root
warning: group dude does not exist - using root
warning: user dude does not exist - using root
warning: group dude does not exist - using root
1:xine ########################################### [100%]

Does it mean it worked or not?

I guess you're right, the file name is xine-0.9.21-fr1.src.rpm but why make a RPM of sources! and how do I compile it... theres nothing on the readme or anything.

I never installed xine from rpms I always do it from the tar.gz files. I remember that I had to download more than 1 file though. Check if everything has been installed or if something is missing.
Some rpms create launchers on the menu, did you check for a new launcher? If its not even there then do a search for xine 's binary = xine. It should be inside /usr/bin or /usr/local/bin

well since your using redhat this is your plan of action, when it comes to source rpms:
rpmbuild --rebuild nameofpackage.src.rpm
navigate to /usr/src/redhat/SOURCES and thats where it goes.

or you can just go here and get the rpm built for redhat 8. you will see you can get both the regular rpm or src rpm, where you will click the RPM file: unless you do wanna take the route for source.
