Rhythmbox closes without playing

Im new to linux, finally having been convinced by one of my good friends to switch over to the light side, Ive decided to try Fedora Core 2, and after a couple of installs, messing around, reinstalling, messing some more, reinstalling again, etc, Ive gotten FC2 almost to the point where it could replace my WinXP install. I have just one problem, when trying to play music through Rhythmbox (v .85) it just closes, ive installed all the libs and dependancies i can find (for mp3 support) xmms plays just fine (all music is accessed via an SMBshare over the lan) i removed Rhythmbox, reinstalled it, updated/installed all the gstreamer plugins, etc, can find no reason Rhythmbox should be doing this. If anyone has had this problem, or a solution that would be great, thanx

just for info (in case it helps)

Try running rhythmbox from commandline (e.g. launch a terminal window and type rhythmbox) and see the output you get. There will be probably some error messages there.

rthymbox closes without playing

I'm having the same problem

it seems to have cropped up after installing Realplayer 10, although I'm not sure

can it be anything todo with intializing gstreamer?

Thanks in advance
Nandish
