RHEL is a paid product. If you do not have a license you will not be able to do any updates or access repositories. The current version of RHEL is 6.3. I suggest you try CentOS, which is a free respin of RHEL, or else use Fedora, which is the free development version. Without more information it's impossible to tell what the problem is, but I suspect it's because you're trying to use an old version.

RHEL is not a good choice for a 'consumer' hardware device like a laptop. Aside from it being a commercial, pay-for product, it's designed for SERVERS...that is, things without wifi, bluetooth, webcams, etc. Those things aren't on servers normally, so support is often spotty. Load something like Fedora, openSUSE, Debian, Ubuntu, or Mint. Those are more likely to 'just work'. If you ARE paying for RHEL, then call Red Hat support. |
This is where you will find useful information
http://wiki.centos.org/ Unless, of course, you've paid for Red Hat; in that case, ask them! |
with your low post count
dont even try installing until you try out the live cds or live dvds. a number of distrubutions of linux (distros) have dual purpose....live or install but not all. IMHO most newbies find the linuxmint forum to be friendly but of course your hardware can still be a problem. only if you have a problem....boot up a live cd and post the output after typing this command Code:
lspci -vvv but I can't display it....and they are 3 v letters code] lspci -vvv [/code] good luck PS look at the Linux User Groups for your country eg http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...-india-334877/ |

1) He may not have a choice, it could be what his manager/architect/power that be decided. 2) To the best of my knowledge there's no RHEL live-CD. |
