Hello!
We use RHAT+KDE at work and I use "gnome-terminal"
for most of the work. I keep few tens (currently - 89)
of "gnome-terminal" copies active (on different stations,
in different directories with different "last commands"
which I reuse frequently). I also keep few tens (currently -
over 100) "nedit" copies with different files viewed/edited
in them. As long as no power outage overwhelms our UPS
the system runs 24/7 with some "gnome-terminal" instances
are used more frequently and some - less frequently.
And I noticed the following phenomenon: if some "gnome-terminal"
window hasn't been used for few weeks (months?) and I suddenly need it,
it loses its ability to "copy/paste" (which works 100% OK at first).
The most frequent type of "copy/paste" is by double clicking
(or LMB+dragging) some part of the "gnome-terminal output"
to select it and then pasting it in some "nedit" or
another "gnome-terminal" window by
middle mouse button. At the "first stage" of losing the
"copy/paste" functionality by "gnome-terminal" I can no longer
copy by LMB double click (or LMB+drag): although the text is selected
but not "pasted" at destination. At that "early illness stage"
I can still copy with "Ctrl+Insert" and paste with "Shift+Insert"
(habit from the past when used OS/2 at home). But as "the illness"
progresses that way of "copy/paste" becomes no longer possible too.
The LINUX version of the workstation on which my KDE is running:
Code:
uname -r
2.6.9-78.ELsmp
rpm -qa | grep gnome-terminal
gnome-terminal-2.7.3-2
Has anyone experienced this phenomenon and knows how to solve it?
TIA,
kaza.
