rh9 bootup - sendmail startup

on red hat 9 startup, i get stuck for about 10 mins on sendmail... anyone knows how to overcome this?

If you don't use sendmail then just disable it:
chkconfig sendmail off

It is usualy trying to resolve your hostname but if you don't run a mail server it will timeout.

turn off service

The above command works well. But I like to use:

# /usr/sbin/ntsysv

This will show you all the services that are starting in your run level. If you are using the GUI then you are in run level 5.

But if you are using the GUI you can use the graphical menu.
Click the Red Hat icon and find the Services program in the menu.
You can edit all run leves here with the GUI.

But if you can use the chkconfig command I feel you are better off.
